Collagen Beauty Smoothie Bowl

Since getting engaged I became OBSESSED with all things Hair, Skin and Nails. Who doesn't want naturally shiny hair, strong nails and glowing dewy skin on their wedding day?! So when I saw my Instagram feed full of babes mixing collagen peptides into their oats, coffee and smoothies, I knew I had to jump on that bandwagon...and I am so happy I did!

After much research, reading of reviews and comparing and contrasting prices, I decided to give Further Food Collagen Peptides a try. According to their website, "Collagen Peptides are designed to elevate your overall health by improving gut health, minimizing wrinkles and cellulite, reducing joint pain, strengthening hair, nails, and bones, while also promoting weight loss. It quickly dissolves (with no flavor, smell or gelling) and can be added to your favorite morning beverages or meals." I have to say, most of this is seriously true.

No taste or odor whatsoever, so I started by mixing a scoop in my morning cup of joe. After a few weeks I definitely saw my skin clearing up and it appeared brighter, which made me want more! I was telling everyone about it, even packaging up sample bags for some of my best girlfriends. I was hooked. But some people are still skeptical, and that's totally okay!

So for those of you whose interest is at least somewhat piqued, I put together this perfectly pink smoothie bowl, chock full of tropical summer flavors, to help ease you in ;-)

Tropical Collagen Beauty Bowl:

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup frozen or fresh pineapple chunks

  • 1 cup fresh strawberry halves

  • 8-10 oz unsweetened almond milk or nutmilk of choice

  • 1 scoop Further Food Grass-Fed Collagen Peptides

  • 1 tbsp hemp hearts {I use Manitoba Harvest or Trader Joe's!}

Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. You can add more or less almond milk until you get your desired consistency. I like my smoothie bowls thick, almost like frappe or soft serve texture so I will occassionally add in some crushed ice too! You can also experiment with 1/2 a frozen banana + 1/2 a fresh banana for a velvety feel.

Then you gotta top that baby! I topped mine with fresh kiwi slices, unsweetened coconut and Purely Elizabeth Gluten-Free Pumpkin Fig Granola. Seriously check Purely Elizabeth out, amazing anicent grain oat blends and so many delish granola flavors!

Be sure to let me know if and how you are using collagen in your diet!
